Act Fast
The reception location should be immediately reserved. Popular venues can be booked up to two years in advance! So it really pays to act fast, particularly if your dates are not flexible.
Make a timeline. This should begin with the wedding date and track all the key tasks backwards to today’s date. This will show you not just what you need to do but by when.
Go firm on a budget before writing the guest list. This sounds a little cold but it is the only way to do it. Ensure the caterer has some extra food. This will allow you to cater for accidents and maybe ensure the band and other temporary workers present get fed.
Early in the reception music should be loud enough to enjoy and dance to but your grandparents should still be able to have a chat. Later you can really start to party.
