LaGuardia Arrivals Gridlock and Pick Up Recommendations
When you normally think of gridlocked traffic, you usually think of the expressway, but unfortunately, the recently started revitalization of LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B has created a nightmare of traffic and delays before you even enter the terminal doors. The Wall Street Journal reported a plethora of traffic congestion, and commuters having to wait for hours to get in and out of the airport in a story published over the weekend for LaGuardia arrivals.
As part of the redevelopment of Terminal B, Parking Lot B has been demolished to make way for the new construction. The elimination of the Parking Lot B has prompted some necessary adjustments to our customer pick up protocol to passengers at Terminal B. Affected airlines are Air Canada, American, Envoy, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, United and Virgin America. For passengers arriving into LGA on these airlines, our curbside pick-up service is highly recommended. If you will be needing assistance upon your arrival into LGA on these airlines, please let us know when you make your reservation. We will have our drivers greet you in the baggage claim to assist you. Please understand that this will lead to additional time, additional walking, and an additional fee.
Passengers waiting to leave the airport complained to the WSJ that it was becoming increasingly difficult to coordinate with limousine drivers, and cab drivers complained that it was often taking them up to two hours to get in and out of the airport, from what was previously at most an hour long trip.
Unfortunately, construction on the new terminal is expected to continue for the next couple of years. Although there are plans of new temporary roadways, the parking shortage will continue to be problematic.
As always, we will continue to keep you informed on situations that affect your travel in and out of all airports we service. Should you wish to talk to us about your concerns, please feel free to call us at 860-355-4509.
