5 Exciting Places to See 4th of July Fireworks in CT

In the 1700s, former colonists kicked off their Fourth of July celebrations with blazing bonfires, merry processions and rowdy mock funerals commemorating the end of King George’s reign. Independence Day celebrations have evolved, but unsurprisingly, their signature bonfires have been replaced by fiery displays of colored lights and dazzling shapes that beautifully illuminate the night sky. Fourth of July fireworks are among the most anticipated events of the summer, so make plans to check out these exciting displays in Connecticut.

1) Danbury Fair Mall SummerStage
Danbury Fair Mall hosts an annual summer concert series, and Fourth of July fireworks are the popular kickoff event. After spending the day browsing this massive shopping center, find a spot at the festivities to watch live music performances and buy cookout-inspired goodies. Inflatables are provided to keep children entertained until dusk when the fireworks display takes place.

2) Quassy Amusement Park 3D Fireworks
Middlebury’s longstanding amusement park boosts the fireworks experience with 3D viewing. With every blast, the individual sparks seem to split into multiple prisms, creating a brilliant geometric display your family will never forget. Located just beyond the Litchfield County line, Quassy Amusement Park is also home to a recreational lake, arcade and water park, so you can spend the day swimming, playing games and riding attractions before the show.

3) Rowayton Civics Association Fireworks
Located in Norwalk on Long Island Sound, the village of Rowayton is perfectly situated for a seaside fireworks display. Bring the family to Bayley Beach to watch fireworks explode over the moonlit ocean as they are launched from a barge offshore. The celebration coincides with the annual summer music festival, and the city of Norwalk also presents a separate fireworks show, so don’t miss out on these spectacular events.

4) New Milford Fireworks Celebration
The Chamber of Commerce hosts a full-day event to honor the nation’s independence. Festivities start at the town green, and local musicians and carnival attractions help to warm up the audience for the big event. Generation donations largely contribute to the epic fireworks show on Fort Hill Road, where an expansive field provides a fitting backdrop for showers of sparkling light.

5)  Lake Compounce Independence Day Fireworks
If you’re a thrill-seeker, take a detour just beyond Litchfield County to Lake Compounce in Bristol. Have your fireworks with a side of roller coasters, spinning swings and plummeting freefalls. Packed with dining venues, rides and water attractions, Lake Compounce offers entertainment for the whole family leading up to a fireworks display over the lake.
